Chief Executive Officer

Our client is a venture capital fund management company with interests in various sectors of the Nigerian economy. As a result of growth and expansion, a rewarding career opportunity has now opened up as the CEO in her fast growing FMCG/Agribusiness in the North Central. The business is an integrated farm business, with forward integration into the conversion of the farm’s product to FMCG products such as Fresh Milk, Yoghurt and different variants of fruit juice. The company is one of the few companies manufacturing fruit juices from natural raw fruits, which are grown organically on the farm’s orchard. We now need a visionary leader willing and capable of taking the business to its best era to date.

Oversight:

  • This role reports to the Board of Directors (the Board).

Principal Accountabilities – Key Performance Areas:

  • Creates annual operating plans that would support the strategic direction set by the Board
  • Collaborates with the Board to define and articulate the organisation’s vision and develop strategies for achieving that vision
  • Provides day-to-day leadership and management to the organisation that mirrors the adopted mission and core values of the company
  • Responsible for the achievement of targeted sales, profitability, cash flow and other business goals and objectives
  • Prudently manages the organisation’s resources and operations within budget guidelines according to current laws and regulations
  • Provides prompt, thorough, and accurate information to keep the Board appropriately informed of the organisation’s financial performance and position
  • Enhances and/or develops, implements and enforces policies and procedures of the organisation by way of systems that will improve the overall operations and effectiveness of the corporation
  • Serves as the primary spokesperson and representative for the organisation, and acts as a liaison between the organisation and the community, building relationships with peer organisations when appropriate
  • Motivates and leads a high performance management team; attracts, recruits and retains required members of the executive team not currently in place; providing mentoring as a cornerstone to the management career development programme
  • Promotes a culture that reflects the organisation’s values, encourages good performance, and rewards productivity
  • All other duties as assigned.

Direct reports to this role:

  • All Employees of the organisation from Head of Plant, CFO, National Sales Manager, Farm Manager, Production Manager, Factory Manager, HR Manager, etc.

Critical Qualifications/Skills/Experience:

  • Experience in strategic planning and execution. Knowledge of contracting, negotiating, and change management. Skill in examining and re-engineering operations and procedures. Experience in formulating policy, and developing and implementing new strategies and procedures. Ability to develop financial plans and manage resources. Ability to analyse and interpret financial data. Ability to identify and secure funding/revenue sources
  • Ability to motivate teams and simultaneously manage several projects
  • Bachelor’s degree required with a ccombination of the completion of a Master’s Degree in Business Administration, Finance. Additional qualification with a specialisation in Marketing would be an added advantage
  • 15+ years progressive manufacturing operations, leadership and strategy experience in low to medium volume manufacturing environments/Food Beverages/Juice/Diary products with a focus on marketing expansion and identifying emerging market trends with a complete understanding of marketing channels, distribution system, supply chain, product handling
  • 5-8 years of leadership experience as CEO/Business Head in FMCG manufacturing with demonstrable leadership in Lean Manufacturing and TQM process improvement
  • Experience in the Nigerian Food/Beverage distribution is highly desirable. Compulsory requirements would include excellent verbal and written communication skills in English, effective interpersonal skills, excellent team building, and presentation skills. Knowledge of local language in the North Central will be a definite advantage.
